Hi, I'm Abi Israel — the teacher behind A.E.L.U.
I'm a certified special education teacher in St. Louis, Missouri, and I've been teaching children since 2008. A.E.L.U. for Developing Scholars is where that classroom experience becomes one-to-one support for your child and your family — tutoring tailor made.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Child Development from Central Methodist University in 2017, and I hold two teaching licenses: Early Childhood, birth through third grade, and Mild/Moderate Cross-Categorical special education, kindergarten through twelfth grade. I tutor kindergarten through sixth grade in English language arts — reading and writing — and arithmetic, online, in person, or in your home.

How I teach
Tutoring tailor made means the plan follows the child. Each session names the skill it is building, uses hands-on work rather than worksheets alone, and ends with something your family can practice at home.

Sessions are planned around one child's learning style, pace, and interests — never improvised, and never copied from another scholar's folder.
Learning differences are not obstacles
As a licensed special education teacher, I plan for the way a child actually learns, including scholars with IEPs, ADHD, and autism.
High expectations are a form of respect
When an adult expects success and then supplies the support to reach it, children rise to meet it. Every scholar here is treated as destined to succeed.
Teaching children since 2008
Working across the early grades means I can usually spot where a gap actually began — often a grade or two before the one causing trouble today.
Early childhood, birth to grade 3
Early language, letter and number knowledge, and the routines that make a young child feel safe enough to try.
Elementary reading and writing
Phonics, fluency, comprehension, spelling, and sentence building for kindergarten through sixth grade.
Arithmetic foundations
Counting, math facts, place value, operations, and fractions — practiced until the reasoning is the child's own.
Special education support
Cross-categorical licensure means I can read an IEP, work alongside a classroom teacher, and adjust pacing patiently.
